"Plan your work, and work your plan"

I've been sick for the past week, so I've been drinking tea like it's my job. I think I've honestly gone through a whole box just in the past two days alone. Anyway, the most recent box of tea I have been indulging in is the origional Salada herbal tea. I found myself quite amused when, after about my third cup, I realized the little tag on the tea bags have short mantra messages on them. The one I just drank about two minutes ago, made me really think. The tag says, "Plan your work, and work your plan".
This small piece of advice got me thinking. I love to plan evverryything, I'm not kidding, I mean EVERYTHING. I love planning everything from small things like dinners for the week, to large things, like trips I want to take, or what I would like my future home to look like. Although I love to plan things, I have realized that not many of my plans ever become a reality. I am usually that person that plans in a list of what they are going to do for that day and then by the end of the day, have accomplished next to nothing on the list. I have planned trips to places across the world and have never actually taken the initiative to turn those plans into reality. This little mantra has made me realize that I have a whole stack of plans I need to make a reality. I would feel a great sense of accomplishment if only I spent more time working my plans. I've clearly mastered the planning portion, but I rarely muster the courage to work my plans. I want to take that trip to Bali. I want to write the novel I have fleshed out in my notebook, I want to go back to school and earn my masters degree.
The point of this post is to spend time making thorough and solid plans, but don't forget to work your plan. You might be the opposite of me and are awesome at following your plans, but the plans you made for yourself aren't very well fleshed out. Maybe that is what you have to work on, and that is what you take away from this tea mantra. Maybe you have mastered both planning and working your plan, in which case I commend you because I would get so much more done.
I hope you took something away from this post, and remember, what you need the most will show up when you least expect it. Like this little bit of advice I received from my cup of tea today. :)
